Edge signs off on £26.5m Lincoln hospital scheme

Nottingham-based construction consultancy EDGE has completed work on a purpose-built diagnostic facility built for United Lincolnshire Teaching Hospitals NHS Trust.

The £26.5m Lincoln Endoscopy Unit is a 21,200 sq ft outpatient unit, which provides four endoscopy procedure rooms, with capacity for a further two future expansion rooms, alongside 12 dedicated preparation and recovery pods.

Located alongside Lincoln County Hospital, the development provides both a standalone diagnostic unit that improves patient privacy and enhances dignity while also creating a calmer and more efficient patient journey.

The scheme has achieved BREEAM Excellent certification and Secured by Design Gold accreditation.

EDGE provided NEC4 project management, NEC supervision, design coordination, programme support and healthcare planning services throughout the scheme.

The firm has previously been involved in the National Rehabilitation Centre scheme in Nottingham, Cambridge Children’s Hospital and construction of two new adult acute care units for Derbyshire Healthcare NHS Foundation Trust.

United Lincolnshire Teaching Hospitals NHS Trust says the additional capacity will enable it to significantly increase diagnostic throughput, reduce wait times, and support earlier diagnosis and treatment for patients across the region.

The project team included architect P+HS, structural engineers Price & Myers, M&E partner Derry Building Services and contractor Bowman + Kirkland.
