Green light for £31m Priorslee housing scheme
Over 100 homes will be built as part of the latest phase of a 1,100 home extension to Telford’s eastern boundary, after plans were approved by Telford & Wrekin Council.
Housebuilder Avant Homes put forward plans to build 135 houses on an eight-acre site in Priorslee in July last year, the latest phase of the firm’s Monks Wood development.
The application was waved through by the local authority’s planning officers – but only after the scheme had been amended to include eight one-bedroom flats, with 33 units allocated as affordable housing in the final approved scheme.

During the consultation, which received no objections, the council also asked the developer to reposition several 2.5 storey dwellings, and make layout changes relating to parking, garden sizes and roads on the proposed layouts.
Work on the new phase is set to start on site shortly, with the first residents expected to move into their new homes in the autumn.
Avant Homes West Midlands managing director, Luke Scarborough, said: “Our Monkswood development has proven hugely popular with first-time buyers and young families in Priorslee and we are pleased to bring forward the second phase in response to strong local demand.
“We now look forward to starting works at the second phase of our development and continue to grow this thriving community we have created in Priorslee.”
