Perton residential site put to market after approval
Land Fund is seeking a developer for an 18-acre plot on the outskirts of Wolverhampton, which bagged planning consent for 180 homes last month.
The promoter lodged outline plans for the site on the western fringe of Perton, near Wolverhampton, in October last year, which were approved by South Staffordshire’s planning committee on 21 July.
The scheme is an extension of a 21-acre plot immediately to the south of the site, also promoted by Land Fund and now known as Wrottesley Village, which received outline planning permission for 220 dwellings in 2018.
“Our focus now is on bringing these homes forward as quickly as possible,” said a spokesperson for Land Fund.
“We are actively marketing the site to housebuilders and registered providers and look forward to building on the success of Wrottesley Village, which has demonstrated the strength of demand for high-quality new homes in this part of South Staffordshire.”
Planning consultancy Carter Jonas, who worked with Land Fund on the scheme, said the decision was an “important step” in meeting housing need across South Staffordshire.
“This is a highly sustainable location for new homes, building on the site’s allocation in the emerging local plan and the successful delivery of the first phase of development at Wrottesley Village,” said Andy Cowan, associate partner, planning and development, Carter Jonas.
“The committee’s resolution is an important step in supporting the council’s local plan strategy and helping to meet housing need across the district. We are very pleased to have secured this on behalf of Land Fund.”
