SJ Roberts hands over £2m Shrewsbury college upgrade

South Shropshire builder SJ Roberts Construction has completed on a purpose-built activity centre for adults with learning disabilities at Condover College in the village of Bings Heath.

The £2m Berry’s-designed facility has been will provide day centre learning for adults with moderate to severe learning disabilities, profound and multiple learning difficulties and additional complex needs. It welcomed its first service users earlier this month.

Planning permission for the project was granted by Shropshire Council in 2024.

Commenting on the completion of the project, Mike Sambrook, managing director at SJ Roberts Construction, said: “From the outset, it was clear how significant the new activity centre would be for the people who use its services, and it has been a privilege to play a part in bringing that vision to life.

“Throughout the project, we developed an excellent working relationship with Condover College and their design team, working collaboratively to ensure the facility met the needs of its users while achieving the highest standards of quality and design.”
