Benniman picked for next-gen DIRFT unit
Logistics specialist Prologis UK has chosen the contractor to build a 285,000 sq ft cold store distribution facility at Northamptonshire’s Daventry International Rail Freight Terminal.
The new unit, DC11, will provide cross-docked space, featuring 48 docks, 22m haunch height, tenant enhancements and external amenity areas.
Sustainability-led, the scheme will target EPC A+, BREEAM Outstanding and be net zero carbon in construction.
DC11 forms part of Prologis RFI DIRFT, a well-established logistics park, and follows Bromsgrove-based Benniman’s earlier appointment to deliver the 217,785 sq ft DC8 unit on the same estate.
Steven Smith, managing director of Benniman, said that the two projects further strengthen the contractor’s relationship with Prologis, having delivered more than 1m sq ft of schemes at locations including Prologis Apex Park, Prologis Park Ryton and Prologis Park Wellingborough West.
He said: “We’re proud to be entrusted once again by Prologis to deliver a major logistics facility at DIRFT. DC11 showcases the combined focus we place on innovation, build quality and sustainability and reflects the strength of our collaborative relationship.”
Elsewhere in the county, Prologis has this month secured a 247,000 sq ft deal with freight group DFDS in Kettering.
