Bromford snaps up Evesham site for affordable scheme

Up to 75 houses will be built in Worcestershire, after Northern Trust Land sold off a nine-acre plot for an undisclosed sum.

The Brewers Lane site in Badsey was snapped up with outline permission already in place for a residential scheme, with housing association Bromford Flagship LiveWest announcing its intention to build out a 100%-affordable housing development on the site.

Planning permission for the scheme was granted by Wychavon District Council in May 2025, despite 65 objections from residents over the scale of the development and traffic concerns.

The plot, which lies in open countryside to the south-east of Badsey, benefitted from a tilted planning balance, with Wychavon unable to demonstrate a five-year land supply at the time of the application.

John Tootell, Strategic Land Director at Northern Trust Land, said it was delighted to have completed the disposal of the site.

“Having commenced promotion of this site in 2018, it is hugely rewarding to have secured planning permission and now placed the site in the hands of a developer to deliver the vision,” he said.

“It is especially rewarding to see the site being brought forward as a 100% affordable housing scheme. This will make a meaningful contribution to meeting local housing needs in Badsey and the surrounding area, delivering real benefits for the community.”

The site was brought forward under a promotion agreement with the landowners, with Savills acting as marketing agent for the sale.

Kate McCree, Associate Director at Savills, added: “Following a successful public marketing campaign, which generated a good number of high-quality proposals, we are very pleased to have secured Bromford Flagship LiveWest as the selected development partner at Brewers Lane, Badsey.

“It was a pleasure to work with the landowners and Northern Trust Land Ltd and together we look forward to seeing the delivery of the proposed scheme.”
