Connexus completes housing scheme at former Ludlow depot
An affordable housing development has been completed on the site of a demolished office block in South Shropshire.
Plans approved 18 months ago saw the disused Aquila House – a two-storey office block formerly owned by Western Power – knocked down to make way for 21 homes, built off Riddings Road.
Craven Arms-based housing association Connexus delivered the scheme in partnership with Homes England, Shropshire Council and Shrewsbury firm TC Homes, who were given the green light by Shropshire Council for the Riddings Road project in December 2024.
Homes England provided £1.5m through its Affordable Homes Programme, while Shropshire Council contributed £260,000 from its Section 106 contributions fund.
The homes include energy-efficiency measures including photovoltaic solar panels and electric vehicle charging points.
“Tudor Way is a great example of what can be achieved when housing associations, local authorities, government agencies, developers and communities work together with a shared purpose,” said Kate Smith, Connexus chief executive.
“These homes will make a real difference in Ludlow, where affordable housing options can be difficult to find. They provide a mix of homes for rent and shared ownership, helping local people access high-quality housing and remain part of the community.
