Honey gets green light for £40m Mansfield scheme
Work to build more than 130 homes in Rainworth is now under way, after Newark and Sherwood council approved plans earlier this month.
Sheffield-headquartered house builder Honey exchanged contracts on the site, located off Nightjar Way around 5 miles south-east of Mansfield, in 2025.
The 12.4-acre plot was allocated for housing in the area’s adopted local plan, and received the sign-off from planning committee members on 11 September despite exceeding the original allocation total for the site.
The first homes at the development, known as Melisse, are expected to be released for sale in late autumn and Honey anticipates that the first residents will move into their new homes in late spring next year.
A total of 15 affordable properties are included in the scheme, which will see a total of 133 houses built.
Honey chief executive officer, Mark Mitchell, said: “Our Melisse development will help meet the strong demand for high-specification new homes from buyers looking to move within, or to, Rainworth.
“Now work has started, we look forward to releasing the first homes for sale to offer prospective buyers the opportunity to own a Honey home.”
Since its launch in October 2022, Honey has secured 32 immediate sites throughout the Midlands and Yorkshire that will deliver 4,842 homes with a combined gross development value of £1.4bn.
The housebuilder is backed by private equity firm Alchemy Partners and its Alchemy Special Opportunities Fund IV, which has £937m of fully committed capital.
