McGoff steps in to complete £40m Glossop resi

A stalled 156-home residential scheme on a former High Peak industrial plot now looks set to be completed, after Altrincham-based McGoff Group moved onto site.

The collapse of former developer, Ecotek, meant tools were downed on the half completed Glossop Road scheme in Gamesley in 2024 – but the first homes are now set to be completed shortly under McGoff’s Villafront Homes brand, work having restarted on the scheme at the beginning of this year.

McGoff Construction’s dedicated housing division is now principal contractor, with the support of other group businesses including light gauge steel framing solution Panacea Building Systems and electrical services contractor Edencroft.

“The new plans for Etherow Grange are superb and we are delighted to now be taking this scheme forward,” said sales director at Villafont, Paul Danks.

“Long established and highly regarded, the McGoff Group has a proven ability to deliver. This means that local homebuyers can now reserve with confidence – and excitement – safe in the knowledge that their new home will be completed on schedule and they will be thrilled with the outcome.”

A total of 40 affordable homes will be built as part of the re-worked project, which the firm says has received a “complete overhaul”, in a development known as Therow Grange.

Villafont has appointed local sales agents, Gascoigne Halman, for the scheme.

“Now in the hands of the McGoff Group, we are confident that Etherow Grange will be very well received by homebuyers looking to secure an aspirational yet relaxed semi-rural lifestyle within easy reach of the picturesque hills and moorland of Derbyshire’s Dark Peak and also Glossop town centre,” said land and new homes director at Gascoigne Halman, Michael Thompson.

The first 3- and 4-bed properties have been released for sale with a starting price of £345,000. A show home will be revealed in Spring 2026 and the first properties are expected to complete in summer 2026.
