New ‘animal hospital’ proposed for city gateway
A vacant former Wolverhampton Land Rover showroom on a prominent city-centre plot could become a new veterinary building, according to plans submitted to the city council.
Applicant, Wolverhampton Estates, wants to demolish the former dealership on the corner of Stafford Road and Bone Mill Lane, and build a two-storey vets with round-the-clock monitoring for sick animals.
The boarded-up site, which has been vacant for a decade, occupies a prominent spot on the edge of Wolverhampton city centre along a key route into the city.
City of Wolverhampton Council granted permission for the building to be demolished in September last year.
According to supporting documents supplied with the application, the building would provide around 10,000 sq ft of space, replacing a “visually inactive building” with a purpose built hospital.
“The proposed development will provide a purpose-built veterinary hospital accommodating a range of clinical, diagnostic, treatment and supporting functions. The building will also incorporate office accommodation for administration and finance staff, medical staff offices, and areas for research and development,” said a statement submitted with the proposals.
Planning advice for the scheme was provided by Manchester-based Edgeplan, while MAS supplied architectural drawings for the application.
Documents and plans relating to the application can be found on City of Wolverhampton’s planning portal using reference: 26/00239/FUL

Would be a great addition especially next to the development site next door ongoing. Seems like a great fit.
