Plans unveiled for 244-home Nottingham scheme

Disused brownfield land next to Nottingham’s railway station could become residential apartments under new proposals, about to be put forward by railside regeneration specialist Blocwork.

The firm, in conjunction with Network Rail’s property arm Platform 4, is planning a 244-home residential scheme, containing a mix of one and two-bedroom rental apartments, set to be built on a vacant site on Station Street and London Road.

A consultation event is due to be held in the city next week, before a planning application is submitted to Nottingham City Council.

Blockwork is a a joint venture between bloc and Network Rail, already responsible for the 350-home Barnum Build to Rent scheme on Queens Road in the city, which was constructed in 2023 on behalf of Grainger Group.

Richard Thomas, director at blocwork, said: “blocwork was created with the aim of repurposing railway land and buildings into sustainable, long-term assets, and the site at Station Street represents another great opportunity to bring forward high-quality new homes, building on the success of our partnership in delivering the nearby Barnum scheme.

“Our ambition for the site is to deliver a development that goes above and beyond to provide everything needed for city living – combining high-quality homes with amenity space to support community life.

“Working closely with stakeholders, we’ve shaped proposals that respond to the site’s context while supporting the city’s wider ambitions for regeneration around Nottingham station.”

A public consultation will take place on Thursday, 26 February, from 4pm until 7pm at Nottingham Central Library.
