Worksop family centre on track for 2026 completion

A £5m facility being built on behalf of Nottingham City Council is set to be completed on schedule this summer.

Work began on the family contact centre in Workshop last year, with the building designed, project and cost-managed by Arc Partnership and built by Derbyshire construction firm, G F Tomlinson.

The building, now named Harmony House, will provide an improved setting for supervised contact visits, safeguarding and educational services, and will include private contact rooms, two conference rooms, kitchen facilities and a secure outdoor play area on Newgate Street in Worksop.

In an update, the city council says the building remains on track to open later this year, with roofing work now completed at the building.

Nottingham City Council says the building, which will replace three bungalows currently used for contact visits, is part of wider plans to move into “more cost-efficient, fit for purpose buildings”.

“Supporting looked-after children, young people and their families in our communities is a key priority so we need to have the right facilities in place to help us do this,” said Nottinghamshire County Council Leader, Cllr Mick Barton.

“I’m delighted with the progress so far and look forward to when young people and families can start benefitting from these new facilities.”

Arc is a joint venture between Nottinghamshire County Council and public-sector procurement organisation SCAPE.
