ALB gets green light for Padel House in Nottingham

Plans to build a world-class padel venue have been given the thumbs up by city council planners.

Nottingham-based developer ALB Group put forward £4m proposals for Padel House, an eight-court sports and leisure facility earmarked for a 7.5-acre former car park on Electric Avenue, in January this year.

The firm is currently converting next-door Riverleen House, a former office building which was previously the headquarters of Experian, into a 160-home residential scheme.

Nottingham City Council’s planning committee approved the padel plans this week, paving the way for a sporting venue which managing director Arran Bailey says will measure up to the city’s other top class venues.

“We are absolutely delighted to have secured planning approval for Padel House,” he said.

“We believe this will be another high-quality sporting venue in the city to stand alongside Nottingham Forest Football Club’s City Ground, Trent Bridge Cricket Ground and the National Water Sports Centre at Holme Pierrepont.

“Receiving planning permission is a huge milestone and allows us to move forward with the next phase of development. We firmly believe Padel House will become a major sporting and social destination for the city, attracting players, visitors from the UK and beyond.”

Alongside the courts, Padel House will feature a Pilates studio, PT studio, physiotherapy facilities, coworking space, offices, a lounge, bar, roof terrace, events plaza and food outlets brought to life by the creative force behind Public and Arran’s Bagel.

Leonard Design are architects for the scheme, while planning consultancy has been provided by Aspbury Planning.
