Ebebek opens first Midlands store at Merry Hill

A parent and baby product retailer has signed on for 10,000 sq ft of retail space at Redical’s flagship Midlands shopping destination in Brierley Hill.

Ebebek will open its fourth UK store and first in the region in Lower Mall, which it says is part of a wider UK expansion strategy, coming around five year’s after the brand’s initial launch.

The fledgeling firm’s three existing outlets are all in the south-east of England – at Peninsular Retail Park in Greenwich, Lakeside Shopping Centre in Thurrock, and The Mall, Wood Green.

The 1.4m sq ft Merry Hill Centre, around two miles from Dudley, was snapped up by Redical for a reported £280m earlier this year.

The centre had been owned by a consortium of lenders including Wells Fargo and AXA Investment Managers, following the collapse of previous owners Intu.

Alistair Winning, leasing manager for Redical, said Ebebek had chosen the site for its strategic importance in the West Midlands, including its varied demographic and high concentration of young families and parents.

“Our offer continues to grow and diversify as a direct result of the stellar reputation we have built over the last five years, as a top ten UK super regional,” he said.

“As we enter this new chapter of Redical ownership, brands recognise the importance of operating within Merry Hill, and ebebek signing for its first store outside the South East attests to this. We know the brand will resonate with the destination’s extensive reach and family demographic, and look forward to their success.”
