Home Bargains launches second Coventry outlet

The discount retailer has spent around £1m on refurbishing a 25,000 sq ft store at Gallagher Retail Park, set to launch this weekend.

The opening will be the firm’s second outlet in Coventry, set to complement the existing 5,100 sq ft city centre store in Lower Precinct, and is launched as part of the retailer’s plans to open 50 new stores in the UK this year.

The firm will join numerous other national occupiers on the fully-occupied 180,000 sq ft Gallagher Retail park site off Jimmy Hill Way in the north of the city, including TK Maxx, Argos, Poundland, and McDonalds.

Home Bargains says its 25,048 sq ft store will offer shoppers a range of products, including homewares, health and beauty essentials, sweets, snacks and drinks, as well as fresh and frozen food. The store will also be home to a Home Bargains bakery, café and garden centre.

Around 85 jobs will be created by the opening, the company says.

Sam Beddows, store manager, said: “Our second Coventry location will be a great store for us, and we’re proud to be able to offer local people top-branded goods at exceptionally low prices.”

The store will officially open at 8am on Saturday, 14 February.
