Housing Plus toasts ‘financial strength’ after Wrekin tie-up
In its first annual results since merging with Wrekin Housing Group, Housing Plus Group has reported a £37.8m surplus.
The group manages 34,000 homes across Staffordshire, Shropshire and Telford and Wrekin.
In the year to the end of March 2026, Housing Plus Group spent £145.6m on new and existing homes, delivering 719 new units and spending £39.3m on maintenance.
Wayne Gethings, group chief executive at Housing Plus Group, said: “Achieving a £37.8m surplus is a strong result, it’s down to the hard work of our great team, but the important story is what that allows us to do for our customer and communities.
“We don’t make a profit or pay dividends, so our financial strength gives us the capacity to invest in the things that matter most to customers.
“That means improving our repairs service so we can do more jobs on the same day. It means investing in kitchens, bathrooms and other improvements through our planned programme. It means building more affordable homes. And it means being there with practical help when someone is struggling with money.
“Ultimately, that’s why financial strength matters to us. It allows us to do more for our customers and communities and to create places people are proud to call home.”
Earlier this year, the group signed new funding agreements with NatWest, Nationwide, AIB, Barclays, and Santander.
Richard Nowell, interim chief financial officer at Housing Plus Group, said: “These results give us a strong platform for the future.
“Generating a surplus gives us the financial capacity and resilience to keep investing while managing the pressures facing the housing sector.
“We’re focused on making every pound work hard for our customers. That means maintaining a strong financial position while directing investment into existing homes, new affordable housing and the services our customers need for the long term.”
Housing Plus Group aims to build 3,500 additional homes by 2031, while increasing investment in to existing homes and maintaining a resilient business capable of managing financial pressures.
