Former recycling centre goes up for sale for £3m
A two-and-a-half acre waste transfer site has gone back up for sale in south Birmingham, with agents touting the site’s development potential.
The former home of Mercian Skip Hire on Ebury Road in Kings Norton went on the market for £2.5m last year, after the business decided to shut its doors in June.
In a message posted online by the business ahead of the closure, it said it was shutting down voluntarily having made a decision to market the site, a decision not related to financial issues or operational difficulties, the firm said.
Agents Bromwich Hardy have relisted the site, which currently still holds a waste transfer licence, for £3m.
“This recycling plant which has B1 and B2 consent was until recently in operational use by a waste transfer company,” said Tom Bromwich, managing partner of Bromwich Hardy.
“The property has a solid concrete base and benefits from an open, lean-to building fitted with solar panels to the north. As well as the large open storage space, the front of the site has two temporary office buildings, with car parking.
“Depending on the new owner’s interest, there is even the potential for residential development, subject to planning permission.”
