Birmingham’s joint tallest tower completes at One Eastside

Birmingham’s joint tallest tower has reached practical completion, with a 51-storey build-to-rent development set to welcome its first residents this summer.

One Eastside has now been handed over to owners PIC after being delivered by Birmingham-based residential developer, Sphere Group.

A former chemical engineering and chemistry teaching facility for Birmingham Metropolitan College was demolished in 2019 to make way for the scheme, which includes 667 apartments. One Eastside is tied for the title of Birmingham’s tallest building with the Octagon, which was completed in September 2025.

The glory may be fleeting for both buildings, with plans to build a potential 60-storey tower at Martineau Galleries currently in development by Henley and Sixth Street.

One Eastside was handed over to PIC after being delivered by Birmingham’s specialist residential developer, Sphere Group.
