Gateley boosts Birmingham team with partner hire

Professional services group Gateley Legal has strengthened its real estate team with the appointment of Daniel Walsh as partner.

Walsh joins the firm with more than 20 years’ experience in the sector, having previously held senior roles at CMS, Eversheds Sutherland and Gowling WLG.

He has advised a broad range of developers, institutional investors and property funds on complex, high-value development and investment transactions across multiple real estate asset classes. His experience includes a strong focus on large-scale logistics schemes and urban regeneration projects.

Walsh joins an established commercial development team in the firm’s Birmingham office, working alongside partners Richard Pettifor, Ray Simpson and Chris Adams.

The appointment comes as Gateley Legal continues to build its presence in the Midlands real estate market, particularly within the logistics sector, said Rebecca Sherwin, partner and national head of real estate at Gateley Legal.

“Daniel brings great knowledge and experience to the team and expands our development and logistics expertise within the Midlands.

“The region continues to see a strong pipeline of commercial development activity and, with several partners in the Birmingham office focused on this sector, we continue to have the skills and resource to support our clients with their continued growth.”

Daniel Walsh, real estate partner, added: “It’s great to have joined such an established development team, particularly one which has a strong track record of supporting logistics developer clients, which is an important part of my practice.

“I have spent the majority of my career in Birmingham and I’m keen to continue to add to my experience of dealing with large-scale development projects in the region. Having met the team, I’m confident that Gateley Legal provides a strong platform and it’s great to be joining the business at such an exciting time.”
