Hollins eyes up 165-home Blythe Bridge scheme

Plans have been submitted for more than 150 houses near Stoke-on-Trent, with almost half earmarked as affordable housing.

Hollins Strategic Land has lodged an application with Staffordshire Moorlands District Council for the 165-home development, proposed for 18 acres of land around five miles southeast of Hanley, between Uttoxeter Road and the West Coast Main Line railway track.

A public consultation was held on the outline proposals in July, with the final scheme set to include a mix of family homes and properties for first-time buyers, alongside five wheelchair-adaptable homes, and around 80 affordable properties.

Emery are planning consultants for the proposals. The illustrative masterplan for the scheme was designed by The Urbanists.

“Blythe Bridge is a great location and there is a clear need for more homes that local people can afford and that work for people at different stages of life,” said Paul O’Shea, director at Hollins Strategic Land.

“We have put a lot of thought into these plans and believe they can make a positive contribution to the village, through the new homes themselves, improved local connections and the investment and open space that would come with them.”

  • Plans and documents relating to the scheme will be available on Staffordshire Moorlands planning portal once the scheme has been validated, using reference: SMD/2026/0478
