Merry Hill strikes deals with duo of health and beauty retailers
Redical’s flagship Black Country shopping centre has announced the addition of Bath & Body Works, with Superdrug also set to double its footprint with an expanded store opening this autumn.
The American retailer will occupy 1,270 sq ft as its first standalone store in Merry Hill, which will complement an existing concession space within NEXT.
Meanwhile Superdrug will double its square footage in the centre to around 19,000 sq ft with the full re-opening of its store in the autumn, with the refreshed unit set to become one of the group’s largest UK outlets.
Last month, Superdrug took the wraps off its “Beauty Playground” concept store with a soft launch in the former HMV.
Redical, which also owns large shopping centres at Leeds’ Victoria Gate, and Clayton Square in Liverpool, snapped up the 1.4m sq ft Merry Hill Centre in March, in a deal reportedly worth around £280m.
“The addition of a standalone Bath & Body Works to Merry Hill is a strong endorsement of both the desirability of the destination and its continued relevance as the go-to destination for the West Midlands and the surrounding catchment,” said Alistair Winning, leasing manager for Redical.
“Health and beauty remains a key category for our visitors, and one in which we continue to see strong performance. Bath & Body Works’ distinctive, desirable products and loyal customer base will further strengthen this already successful category, giving our customers even more reason to visit Merry Hill.”
