Persimmon launches 105-home Wednesbury scheme
The first show-home has opened at a development of more than 100 residential properties currently under construction on a former college site in Wednesbury.
Planning permission for the Tame Bridge View scheme on Friar Park Road, built on the site of the former Pheonix Collegiate campus which moved out to alternative facilities around eight years ago, was granted in October 2024.
Initial outline plans for 84 homes on the site had previously been approved in early 2022. However, in 2023, Persimmon Homes submitted a new application proposing 105 homes, stating that the revised scheme would make more efficient use of the land.
A land deal completed in November paved the way for development to begin on the 12-acre plot, near the proposed Friar Park Urban Village development outlined by Sandwell Council and the West Midlands Combined Authority which is intended to provide a further 630 homes as part of a separate scheme.
Persimmon Homes Central say 25 properties have already been purchased off plan, prior to the completion of the development.
“This is an exciting development for Wednesbury, and we’re proud to be working in partnership with Sandwell Council to provide high-quality, energy-efficient homes set within a well-connected community,” said Sarah Preston, sales director, Persimmon Central.
