Cameron gets straight to work at 144-home Redhill scheme

Staffordshire-based developer Cameron Homes has completed its largest land acquisition to date with the purchase of a 17.2-acre site in Redhill, Nottinghamshire, for a £40m residential scheme.

A total of 144 homes will be built out on the site, which sits around five miles north of Nottingham city centre and has full planning consent from Gedling Borough Council. The scheme, approved in 2024, will be accessed via a new road linked to the neighbouring Eagles Edge development.

The project will comprise a mix of one- to four-bedroom homes, including 21 designated as affordable housing.

John Hickman, Group Land Director for Tara Group and Cameron Homes, said: “By volume, this is one of the largest development opportunities we’ve ever acquired in a single phase. Delivering 144 homes on this prestige 17.2-acre site in Redhill will really cement our brand across Nottinghamshire, especially as we are also part-way through the construction of 57 family homes two miles away at Mapperley Meadows.

“With our sister company Chasetown Civil Engineering making an immediate start to the groundworks – to prepare the site for construction – we’re pleased to be able to work to an accelerated project delivery plan. We hope to unveil an on-site show home in 12 months’ time.”

The new development will be known as Hawksley Rise, paying homage to the 19th Century civil engineer Thomas Hawksley, who was born in nearby Arnold.

In 1831, he completed the Trent Bridge waterworks, which delivered Britain’s first high pressure ‘constant supply’, preventing contamination entering clean water mains.

William Cox, Lead Director for Residential at JLL’s Birmingham office, added: “It’s been a pleasure to work with Cameron Homes on this land deal, which will see this prime site in Redhill brought forward for much needed family and affordable housing.

“On completion, the development will also benefit from 5.6-acres of new public open space, including a children’s play area, which will provide a new community asset to Redhill.”
