Ridge appoints McPartland to lead Midlands team

Glancy Nicholls managing director Adam McPartland has switched to Ridge, charged with growing the firm’s Birmingham-based architectural practice.

McPartland brings 20 years’ experience in architecture and practice leadership, including 12 years as a RIBA Chartered Architect and a decade in senior management roles.

His previous local authority experience includes working with Wolverhampton City Council and the University of Wolverhampton to shape the city’s regeneration plans.

Birmingham City University alumnus McPartland has spent more than 15 years with Glancy Nicholls, starting at the firm in 2011. He was appointed managing director in 2024.

“The Midlands has a strong pipeline of development and regeneration projects, and architecture has a vital role to play in shaping sustainable, successful places,” he said.

“Ridge has the people, expertise and ambition to make a real impact in the region. I’m looking forward to growing our architectural presence, strengthening client relationships and delivering projects that create long-term value for communities across the Midlands.”

The appointment supports Ridge’s ambition to become the leading multidisciplinary architectural practice in Birmingham and the wider Midlands, at a time of sustained demand for housing, infrastructure and urban regeneration across the region, according to Liz Sparrow, lead architecture partner at Ridge.

“Adam will play a key role in growing our architectural presence in the Midlands and strengthening the service we provide to clients across the region,” she said.

“He brings a wealth of experience across residential, higher education and tall building projects, alongside a strong track record of leading successful teams and delivering complex developments.”
