Shropshire Chamber sells off Shrewsbury offices for £400k
An office block owned by Shropshire Chamber of Commerce has been snapped up by alternative education provider, Reach for Inclusion.
The 4,682 sq ft building at Henry Close, Battlefield Enterprise Park was sold as part of chamber moves to consolidate their operations in Stafford Park, Telford.
Reach for Inclusion had previously been operating out of leased premises elsewhere in Shrewsbury, but moved into the Chamber House building as tenants in October.
Six months later the company, which provides alternative education for students with special educational needs, have now decided purchase the building.
James Evans, head of agents Halls Commercial who handled the sale, said the deal was a “clear demonstration” of confidence in the county’s office market.
“The fact that a purchaser has chosen to move so quickly from leasing to ownership underlines the strength of the market and the growing confidence among businesses in the region,” he said.
“We have been talking about sustained demand for office business space across Shropshire and this transaction is a clear demonstration of that momentum in action with a tenant occupier having the confidence to buy their own building.”
The end of terrace, commercial business unit has two floors and 10 car parking spaces. The accommodation includes offices, welfare and toilet facilities and has a six-person lift.
Battlefield Enterprise Park is 1.5 miles from Shrewsbury’s town centre.
Shropshire Chamber of Commerce chief executive Ruth Ross said the decision to consolidate their premises in Telford came as a result of a dip in in-person working patterns following the pandemic.
“The Shrewsbury site was originally earmarked to offer co-working and collaborative space, but the shift in working patterns and changing member needs made that model less viable,” she said.
“Our focus now is on delivering flexible, high-impact support from a centralised base that more accurately reflects how businesses operate today.”
