Vistry ready to go on £140m Hinckley North build
Housebuilder Vistry says work will begin this month to build 475 homes on a 54-acre Leicestershire site, after getting the final go-ahead from planners in December.
The development will deliver a mix of properties across a range of tenures, with 30% of homes earmarked for affordable housing, 25% designated for the private rented sector, with the remainder set for private sale.
Hinckley and Bosworth Borough Council decided to refuse outline consent for the scheme in 2022, only to see that decision overturned by government planning inspectors in January 2024.
Vistry then agreed a deal with promoter Richborough to acquire the plot, located north of Hinckley to the east of Stoke Road and north of Normandy Way, almost a year later in October, 2024.
A reserved matters application was approved at the end of last year.
All properties will be constructed using modern methods of construction, including timber frame panels produced at the nearby Vistry Works factory in Bardon, Leicestershire.
Andy Reynolds, Managing Director of Vistry South East Midlands, said: “Getting spades in the ground at this flagship development marks an important milestone for Vistry in Leicestershire.
“The reserved matters approval in December allowed us to move quickly into the delivery phase, and we’re excited to bring forward a diverse range of high‑quality homes that will meet local demand and create a vibrant new community.”
