Work starts at 121-home South Staffs scheme

Lovell has broken ground at its residential scheme off Pool House Road in Wombourne.

The development, earmarked for 16-acres of land to the north-west of the village, include 121 houses, with 72 earmarked as open market homes and 49 as affordable properties – 25 for social rent and 24 for shared ownership.

Planning permission was granted in April, and the start of works follows the acquisition of a second plot of land for the scheme.

Both parcels have been included as part of a housing allocation for 144 homes in South Staffordshire’s emerging local plan.

Steve Ulfig, regional land and pre-construction director at Lovell in the West Midlands, said: “Breaking ground at Pool House following the acquisition of this second plot, – represents a huge moment for Lovell and the local community. It underscores our commitment to working seamlessly with South Staffordshire District Council to unlock land and deliver much-needed high-quality housing.

“With this significant milestone in the development, we’re increasing the overall supply of social rent and shared ownership homes in Wombourne, while also creating a well-balanced, sustainable community where people can thrive. We look forward to seeing the site progress rapidly over the coming months.”
