Vistry plans 123 homes and care facility at Tamworth college
The vacant South Staffordshire College site on Croft Street in Tamworth will be redeveloped for residential use, after the college quit for purpose-built premises last year.
Homes England and Vistry have now exchanged contracts to regenerate the former South Staffordshire College site on Croft Street, Tamworth, bringing forward plans for 123 new homes and a care home of up to 80 beds in Tamworth following a competitive selection process.
Homes England applied for outline planning consent for 123 homes in 2024, alongside a care home with up to 80 beds, having already secured approval for demolition of the former college buildings. Tamworth council approved the redevelopment proposals in June last year.
South Staffordshire College relocated to a replacement facility at St Editha’s Square last year, part of a wider regeneration of Tamworth’s town centre which paving the way for the redevelopment. Demolition work started earlier this year and is due to complete this summer, with a reserved matters planning application set to follow.

The Croft Street site is ideally situated in a residential area opposite the mainline station and close to Tamworth Town Centre to deliver sustainable new homes for all ages including care home provision.”
