Cameron submits plans for £16m Burbage scheme
Staffordshire housebuilder Cameron Homes has submitted a reserved matters application to build 40 homes on a six-acre site in Leicestershire.
Hinckley and Bosworth Borough Council will now run the rule on the Pegasus Architects designed scheme off Workhouse Lane, with a mix of two- to five-bedroom semi-detached and detached houses proposed.
Eight homes on the scheme would be allocated for affordable housing, with two plots designated as ‘First Homes’, to enable local first time buyers to purchase a home with a 30% discount.
Outline planning permission for development on the site was granted on appeal in 2023, after the local planning authority had originally refused consent to land owners Central England Cooperative in August 2022.
John Hickman, group land director for Tara Group and Cameron Homes, said: “Our plans for a quintessential £16m Cameron development of beautifully designed and detailed family houses will cater for every sector of the market, from first time buyers to growing families and downsizers.
“We will continue to work with council officers, councillors and stakeholders as this planning application is considered. We are hopeful of being able to start construction later this year.”
As part of the development programme, Cameron Homes will deliver ecological enhancements and increase the biodiversity of the site, through the creation of an attenuation pond resulting in new habitats, the developer says.
