Charity’s Telford offices hit market for £2.2m
PDSA has put its Shropshire headquarters up for sale, after deciding its purpose-built head office is now too large for its needs.
The national animal welfare charity opened its 19,000 sq ft HQ on Whitechapel Way, on the fringes of Telford town centre, in 1989.
The two-storey building was originally designed to provide accommodation for up to 200 staff, but the charity says an increase in the number of employees either home working or in hybrid roles means the building is now too big for them.
The property went up for sale with Telford-based Andrew Dixon and Co this week, valued at £2.2m, with the charity set to relocate to smaller premises in the Telford area according to a spokesperson.
“Like many organisations, the way we work has changed significantly in recent years, with more colleagues working remotely and in hybrid roles. As a result, our current head office building is no longer the right fit for our needs,” they said.
“We would like to reassure all of our clients that this move will not affect any of our services or any of the care given to our pet patients, as no veterinary services are carried out at the Head Office site in Telford. Staff headcount will also be unaffected.
“Not only will the smaller, right-sized office better support the way we work today, it will help us ensure that we are making the best use of our land and buildings. The funds released through the sale will help us support more people and pets who rely on PDSA’s services.
“We will continue to keep colleagues and other key stakeholders informed as our plans progress.”
The building sits alongside three others on the Whitechapel Way business park, around half a mile from Telford’s main railway station.
Next-door Whitechapel House was once home to Telford & Wrekin Council’s IT department, but the local authority left the site around a decade ago. In 2023, the building was given permission to be converted into a Sikh temple.
