Orbit gets thumbs up for affordable homes in Coventry

Construction is expected to begin this summer on more than 60 homes near Coventry Airport, after Warwick District Council gave the thumbs up to proposals this month.

Orbit Homes, the housebuilding arm of social housing group Orbit, will build 33 new homes in Baginton, which it says will be made available for social rent, alongside 30 homes available for shared ownership purchase in partnership with builder Stonebond.

The new homes will be built using modern methods of construction, using a timber frame installation method, according to the firm.

Grant funding from Homes England will support the delivery of affordable homes at the site.

Brian Nearney, Chief Development Officer at Orbit, said: “We are delighted to be working in partnership with Stonebond to expand the availability of quality new affordable homes in the local area at Lancaster Fields. This partnership continues our investment across the Midlands and will offer a range of energy-efficient homes for those at all stages of life.

“We are also proud to be delivering these homes in a mix of affordable tenures, including over half for social rent, to support the local housing need and we’re very excited to see this site progress.”
