Owl Group snaps up Leicestershire housing plot

Owl Group has completed the unconditional purchase of a 17-acre site in Newbold Verdon, with outline plans in place for 135 homes.

The Staffordshire-based housebuilder acquired the Brascote Lane for an undisclosed sum.

Richborough were land promoters for the site, and John Allison Land & Research were agents for an unnamed vendor.

The land was granted outline planning permission for 135 homes in October 2025, and is a draft allocation in the emerging Hinckley & Bosworth Local Plan.

Owl Group’s says the purchase marks a further step in its expansion across the East Midlands, with the developer now preparing to progress a detailed planning application for the site according to head of land and partnerships, Conor Garvey.

“A lot of work has gone into reaching this point, and completing this land purchase is an important milestone for Owl’s growth in the East Midlands,” he said.

“Particular thanks go to our land and partnerships manager, Stephanie Parker, for her hard work and persistence. Our focus now turns to progressing the detailed planning application and bringing this site through to delivery.”

The scheme has permission for 40% affordable housing, which the firm says will support the delivery of a mix of homes in the west Leicestershire village.

Tamworth firm Owl has two live developments in Leicestershire, including 55 homes at Stoke Goulding and a 66-home scheme at Burton on the Wolds.
