Place Midlands set to showcase region on national stage

Persimmon’s premium housing brand has tied up a deal for a consented 57-home site on the outskirts of Leicester, and completed a deal with land promoter Richborough for a 110-home project in Solihull.

The Liverpool-based mechanical and electrical engineer will team up with Place North to champion conversations around sustainability, resilience, and collaboration in the built environment.

Bridgnorth firm Johnson Design Partnership is the architect for the project at the Wellington campus.  

Whitehouse Construction will relocate to a new-build 8,000 sq ft headquarters building at Ivygrove Development’s proposed business park in Derby’s Spondon district.

Already inked in for 10,000 homes, a 2,800-acre area around the recently opened railway station is one of 12 locations picked out for expanded and accelerated delivery by the New Towns Taskforce’s report to government.

The property company has expanded its holdings at Airfield Industrial Estate in Hixon with the addition of a 32,000 sq ft warehouse unit, acquired from manufacturer Allett.

While the rhetoric and promises from government have the built environment feeling optimistic, the consensus at the Labour Party conference in Liverpool was that it was time to turn talk of building homes and infrastructure into reality.

The city council has committed to making 1,800 of the project’s 3,500 new homes affordable as it selected its preferred developer to revamp the post-war estate.

The local authority had lodged a High Court challenge against a planning inspector’s decision to allow the development in Great Barr, handed down in January this year.
