Regeneration Brainery appoints Midlands director
Not-for-profit social organisation Regeneration Brainery has appointed Joanne Dennis-Jones as operations director for the Midlands and the South.
The organisation says Dennis-Jones’ appointment to the newly created role marks a “strategically important step for the organisation” as part of a plan to broaden its influence in the Midlands – which it says is central to its growth aspirations.
Founded in 2017, the organisation connects young people from all backgrounds with industry mentors, practical experiences, and ongoing support, helping them build confidence, develop skills, and access employment opportunities in the built environment sector.
Dennis-Jones has previously worked as head of planning at WSP GL Hearn, and is a member of the Royal Town Planning Institute.
“The importance of initiatives like Regeneration Brainery should not be understated,” she said.
“It is essential that we engage, support, encourage and grow the opportunities for our young people to learn about careers in the built environment and bridge the skills shortage – especially those who may not see themselves represented in the sector. Having recently completed our Birmingham Brainery Week and seen first-hand the positive energy of the students; I am even more excited to help grow our reach, invest in our Partner relationships and deepen our impact across the Midlands and the South.”
Laura Stott remains at Regeneration Brainery where she has developed the national programme over the last four years, and is now Operations Director North, ensuring that Regeneration Brainery’s expansion plans in the North East and into Scotland are delivered.
Michele Steel, CEO of Regeneration Brainery, added: “Joanne’s appointment is a pivotal moment for Regeneration Brainery. Her deep understanding of the built environment and her passion for inclusive growth make her the ideal person to lead our work in the Midlands and the South.
“As we expand into new cities and communities, alongside Laura, Joanne will play a key role in ensuring our programmes are locally rooted, nationally connected, and consistently impactful. We’re thrilled to welcome her to the team.”
