Waterman strengthens with two senior appointments

Waterman Group has bolstered its leadership team in the Midlands, appointing Jonathan Purcell as managing director of strategy and growth.

Purcell, who will continue to be based across Nottingham and Birmingham, will step into the newly created role from his previous post of managing director of building services – north.

He will work alongside UK Chief Operating Officer Mark Emberton and the consulting managing directors to identify new opportunities, strengthen client relationships and drive strategic priorities.

Meanwhile, Mark Terndrup has expanded his remit as managing director for building services, taking responsibility for the business across the UK after previously leading the South region.

The firm says the appointments are intended to strengthen national collaboration, and will help position the business for its next phase of growth across its core markets.

“This is an important step for our UK Consulting business as we continue to bring our teams together and look ahead to the next stage of growth,” said Neil Humphrey, chief executive officer.

“Jonathan’s new role will help us strengthen client relationships, prioritise the opportunities that matter most and make the most of our combined expertise across UK Consulting. Mark’s expanded UK-wide role will support greater consistency, collaboration and leadership across our Building Services business.

“Jonathan and Mark both bring deep knowledge of Waterman, our clients and our markets, and I am delighted they are taking on these important leadership responsibilities.”

Purcell, whose background is in mechanical engineering, has been with Waterman for nearly three decades, joining the consultancy in 1997 as a regional directort.

“I am excited to take on this new role at such an important time for Waterman,” he said.

“We have a real opportunity to build on our collective strengths, deepen our client relationships and position the business for sustainable growth. I look forward to working closely with colleagues across the business to help deliver our shared ambitions.”
