First tenant for expansion of Mercia Park

Global logistics firm DSV has been named as the first occupier of a planned £150m new building at a Leicestershire industrial park.

Around 600,000 sq ft of space has been pre-let to the Danish freight group in a proposed new warehouse unit at Mercia Park near Measham, subject to planning permission being awarded for the scheme.

Site owner IM Properties lodged an application for a 70-acre expansion to the already sizeable specialist logistics facility in February, with a decision due from North West Leicestershire council in due course.

If approved, around 420 jobs will be created in the new DSV facility, according to IM Properties.

DSV already occupies around one million sq ft at its existing flagship facility within Mercia Park, alongside Jaguar Land Rover’s three million sq ft Global Logistics Centre, which together employ more than 2,500 people on site.

Richard Sykes, development director at IM Properties, said: “DSV’s continued investment in Mercia Park demonstrates the long-term confidence occupiers have in both the quality of the location and our partnership approach with occupiers and local stakeholders.

“Their commitment to community and sustainability aligns closely with our sustainable futures strategy and we’re proud to create further growth and job opportunities in North-West Leicestershire and support them as they expand their operations here.”
