Green light for 270,000 sq ft Derby industrial scheme
A total of 17 units will be built at Sinfin Commercial Park, after city council planners issued the thumbs up for a major light industrial and logistics development.
Industrial developer Hortons submitted outline plans for the site in April last year a ‘redundant’ 207,000 sq ft warehouse unit was demolished to make way for the scheme at the prominent industrial and logistics site, around two miles from Derby city centre.
Hortons intends to deliver the new units in phases over the next three years, with the first phase expected to commence this summer.
The approval builds on ongoing transformation at Sinfin Commercial Park, where works are also nearing completion on Unit F, a comprehensively redeveloped 63,000 sq ft industrial warehouse unit that will shortly be ready for occupation.
“Securing planning approval is a significant step forward in our vision to reposition Sinfin Commercial Park as a leading industrial and logistics destination for the East Midlands,” said James Slater from Hortons.
“This redevelopment will deliver a high-quality, sustainable scheme that responds directly to occupier demand for modern, energy-efficient space and reflects our commitment to unlocking the full potential of the site.”
Units will range in size from 5,000 sq ft to 70,000 sq ft, targeting EPC A and incorporating strong sustainability credentials. Features include electric vehicle charging, photovoltaic solar panels and landscaped green amenity spaces to enhance the estate’s environmental credentials.
The project team on the development includes PMP consultants, Align Architecture, Civil and Structural Engineering specialists, OES, Halligan Consulting Engineers and main contractor Amphion Construction.
