Tomlinson signs off £10m Lichfield school project

A Staffordshire primary school and nursery has welcomed its first pupils, after East Midlands contractor G F Tomlinson delivered the scheme on behalf of the local authority.

Greywood Primary Academy and Nursery School, which opened its doors to pupils in September, was formally opened at a ceremony on 25 September.

The project was completed by the Derby-based firm through the Constructing West Midlands Framework, in partnership with Staffordshire County Council, Entrust and GSS Architecture.

The two-storey school has 15 classrooms, a library, SEN rooms, a hall, kitchen facilities, a studio, offices and staff breakout spaces. It also has around 7,900 sq metres of outdoor learning and play space.

Andy Sewards, chairman at G F Tomlinson, said his team had delivered a “modern and inspiring learning environment” which was designed around the needs of pupils, staff and the wider community.

“The new school will provide an important educational facility for the growing local community, and we are proud to have played a part in bringing the project forward. I’d like to thank everyone involved for their hard work, collaboration and commitment throughout the project,” he said.

Janet Higgins, cabinet member for education and SEND at Staffordshire County Council, added: “It’s wonderful to see the school up and running and the children settling in well.

“The facilities are exceptional and include the latest technology to help pupils thrive and achieve their full potential.

“Investing in education is investing in our future, and this school demonstrates our commitment to providing modern, high-quality learning environments.”
