WB Property Group bags £18m Rubery contract
Lichfield-based construction firm WB Property Group will build out 70 affordable homes in South Birmingham, after securing an £18.6m deal with Midland Heart.
Planning permission for the 5.6-acre site, a former playing field off Boleyn Road in Rubery, was granted in 2023.
Under the approved scheme, a total of 58 houses and 12 apartments will be built as part of a 100% affordable development for housing provider Midland Heart.
Public open space and a children’s play area are also earmarked for the former King Edward VI Ballam Wood Academy and Holly Hill Methodist School field site, which have not been in educational use for several decades.
Stephen Wilkes, Construction Director at WB Property Group, said the contract award was a “significant win” for the company, and a strong endorsement of WB’s approach.
“We’re absolutely delighted to have been chosen once again as a trusted development partner to deliver much-needed affordable homes,” he said.
“Projects like this are hugely important, not just for the sector, but for the communities they support and we’re looking forward to getting on site and bringing this scheme to life.”
