Capital&Centric unwraps Spode Works revamp

Latest images of a planned redevelopment at Stoke-on-Trent’s historic former pottery works have been released by Capital&Centric.

In July, the Manchester firm lodged proposals for two buildings at Spode Works, part of the first phase of a wider scheme which will see up to 116 homes built as part of the regeneration of the site.

Capital&Centric says the scheme is part of a long-term vision to create a landmark destination, with homes, cafés, bars, restaurants, creative workspaces and public spaces at the 10-acre former ceramics industry hub.

Elsewhere on the site, former trade offices will also be refurbished, set to house creative businesses already based at the site, before the next phases of the wider development can begin.

Capital&Centric has released two images of the proposed interior of the buildings, while the city council mulls over the proposals.

Separate plans for the Bisque Store building on the site would see it repurposed to serve up new padel courts and a cafe operation.

Mark Edwards, development director at Capital&Centric, said: “Spode Works is one of the most significant heritage sites in the country and this first phase is about getting the foundations right.

“The Bisque Store is a brilliant building, and we’ve worked hard to find a use that brings people onto the site, generates footfall and helps fund the long-term restoration of the buildings that matter most here.”

Plans and documents relating to the application can be found on Stoke-on-Trent’s planning portal using reference: 26/FUL/00608
