Frasers Group eyes £400m duo of shopping outlets

The Mike Ashley-owned retail giant is in talks to acquire York Designer Outlet and East Midlands Designer Outlet from Aviva Investors.

York Designer Outlet spans 350,000 sq ft and features more than 100 high street and designer brands, including Swarovski, Michael Kors, Under Armour, and Adidas, alongside 17 food and beverage outlets. The scheme is located four miles south of York, just off Selby Road.

Meanwhile, East Midlands Designer Outlet comprises 231,000 sq ft and is home to over 65 retail brands such as Barbour, Boss, and Calvin Klein, in addition to 14 F&B operators. Built in 2002, it sits 6.5 miles southwest of Mansfield.

CBRE is advising Frasers, while Morgan Williams is acting for Aviva Investors. Both outlets are managed by McArthurGlen.

If completed, the acquisition would mark a continuation of Frasers Group’s recent run of deals, following its purchases of Swindon Designer Outlet, Glasgow’s Braehead Shopping Centre and a retail park in Inverclyde in Q4 last year.
