Indurent takes Stoke Central to fully let
Online groceries firm Ocado will take on 55,000 sq ft of space at Indurent’s key industrial and logistics site in Stoke-on-Trent.
The retailer has taken oa 15-year lease on C55, which has a BREEAM ‘Excellent’ rating and EPC A certification, and also incorporates rooftop solar PV and EV charging infrastructure, which Ocado will use to house, maintain and charge its fleet of electric delivery vehicles.
“Securing Ocado as the final tenant at Indurent Park Stoke Central is a significant milestone for the scheme and reflects the continued strength of demand for high-quality industrial and logistics space in strategically located markets,” said George Goldsmith, Senior Asset Manager at Indurent.
“Reaching full occupancy across the park demonstrates the appeal of modern, sustainable buildings with excellent connectivity, and reinforces our commitment to delivering space that meets the evolving needs of our customers.”
Built on the site of the former Shelton Bar steel works near the A500, Indurent Park Stoke Central includes 530,000 sq ft industrial and logistics space and part of the 300-acre Festival Park development in Stoke-on-Trent.
The development was delivered in two phases between 2020 and 2023, the final phase of a four-decade regeneration project for the former heavy industry site, around a mile from the centre of Hanley.
Ocado’s main Midlands distribution and fulfilment hub is in Dordon, North Warwickshire, just north of Tamworth, which covers 1m sq ft and satisfies over 170,000 orders per week.
The firm’s base in Stoke will become a spoke delivery hub for the area.
“We are always looking for ways to support our growing customer base whether that is identifying new sites or maximising the capacity of our current infrastructure,” said Danny Kennedy, senior property strategy and development manager at Ocado Retail.
“Confirming the new spoke at Stoke is a great example of this, and it will enable us to deliver to even more customers. While work has only just started, we expect the site will be up and running later this year, creating hundreds of new jobs in the process.”
