Modular specialist Reds10 bags £22.5m schools contract
An offsite construction firm has been appointed by the Department for Education to deliver a pioneering replacement facility at The Hinckley School in Leicestershire.
The project, being delivered by Reds10, will replace four existing teaching buildings in two phases, creating a three-storey, purpose-built block spanning around 9,000 sq ft – set to include science labs, IT suites, engineering workshops, classrooms and food technology kitchens.
The vast majority of the 103-module building manufactured will be manufactured offsite at the firm’s East Yorkshire facility, which Reds10 says will speed up delivery, improve build quality and minimise disruption at the school.
Richard Abrams, Framework Delivery Director, at Reds10, said: “Being appointed by the DfE to deliver this STEAM block is a significant milestone for Reds10, reinforcing our track record in delivering education projects of the highest quality across the UK.
“We look forward to collaborating with all our partners to create a building that reflects the school’s ambitions, inspiring students and supporting innovative teaching for decades to come.”
Factory production is due to begin later this year, with installation scheduled from June 2027 ahead of completion in February 2028.
The scheme is being delivered in partnership with Hinckley & Bosworth Borough Council, Gleeds, Sense of Space and The Futures Trust.
