Broad Marsh demolition gathers pace as DSM appointed for next phase

Demolition work at Nottingham’s flagship regeneration is set to move forward, after Homes England confirmed DSM Demolition as its contractor for the next phase of clearance works.

Birmingham-based DSM will start work on pulling down the former college site and the NCP car park in the autumn, meaning demolition activity is underway across all three parts of the Broad Marsh site.

Work to pull down the former Intu shopping centre commenced earlier this year.

“Anyone walking past Broad Marsh can see the pace of change, with demolition of the former shopping centre progressing well,” said Jo Nugent, Executive Regional Director for the Midlands at Homes England.

“Appointing DSM to demolish the former College site and the NCP car park means we can keep that momentum going right across the site.

“These buildings have stood empty for too long and clearing them opens the door to the new homes, jobs and public spaces that people in Nottingham have told us they want to see. We are getting on with the job of making this site ready for its future, and we will keep local people informed every step of the way.”

A developer is expected to be appointed to the Broad Marsh regeneration scheme in early 2027, following a call for expressions of interest launched at UKREiiF in March.

Homes England snapped up the site in March 2025, following significant investment by Nottingham City Council on a neighbouring plot, which saw the construction of the new Central Library, the Broad Marsh car park and bus station, the Nottingham College city hub, and the Green Heart park.
