Graham bags £37m Coalville school rebuild contract
Five ageing school blocks will be torn down as part of a major redevelopment of The Castle Rock School after Graham Construction was given the go-ahead by the Department for Education.
The £37m project, designed by DLA Architecture, will see a two-storey school building constructed as part of a plan to provide upgraded facilities for up to 1,550 pupils at the site in Coalville, Leicestershire, as well as remodelling works set to be carried out on a retained building.
The programme also includes new outdoor learning and play areas, a three-court multi-use games area, including sports pitches, and wider improvements across the school site.
Lindsey Crabtree, education director at GRAHAM, said: “Creating inspiring, resilient and future-focused learning environments sits at the heart of what we do at GRAHAM.
“The Castle Rock School project is about supporting the school’s ambitions and improving the day-to-day experience for pupils and teachers, while ensuring that the estate is ready for the next generation of learners. We are pleased to be working with the DfE and the school community to bring these plans forward.”
Planning consent was secured for the scheme in July 2025, following pre-planning and consultation works by DPP Planning.
