Green light for next phase of Trent Basin
A total of 87 homes will be built in Nottingham after developers secured planning approval for the next phase of a 350-home scheme near the River Trent.
The scheme is part of a £100m regeneration partnership between Nottingham-based Blueprint Regeneration in partnership with Nottingham City Council and the East Midlands Combined County Authority.
Hybrid plans were approved in 2025, originally set to include 110 homes, however Blueprint lodged an amendment earlier this year which downgraded the size of the development – set to reduce the impact of car traffic on the scheme.
Sam Veal, chief executive at Blueprint Regeneration said: “Section 73 planning approval for Trent Basin West marks a significant step forward in delivering the next phase of the development and accelerating housing delivery in Nottingham.
“We’re excited to be delivering high‑quality, sustainable homes that are shaped by the fabric of the area and put people, place and planet at the heart of the design.
“Working in partnership with Nottingham City Council, and with the support of funding from the East Midlands Combined County Authority, this project demonstrates our shared commitment to creating thriving, inclusive riverside communities.”
Last month, the project received a £2m grant from EMCCA’s brownfields fund to facilitate development at the site, a former cargo dock for barges on the Trent.
In November last year, a pedestrian and cycle bridge connecting the scheme to West Bridgford was lifted into place, the first river crossing to be constructed in Nottingham for 50 years.
