Winvic signs off on £1.9m Carholme Road upgrade
A project to improve traffic flow on a major route into Lincoln city centre has been completed following four months of work on the scheme.
Specialist civic engineering firm Winvic Construction says improvements to Carholme Road and A46/A57 roundabout, its fourth scheme under the Lincolnshire County Council highways framework, forms part of a series of strategic upgrades to improve traffic flow and safety on key routes around Lincoln.
Over the four-and-a-half-month construction period, more than 4,300 tonnes of road-building materials were laid, 950 ft of new highways drainage and 41 new gullies installed, and 800 ft of failing kerbs and drainage channels replaced.
The works also included 96,000 sq ft of carriageway resurfacing, 8,600 sq ft of new footway construction, and the refurbishment of three uncontrolled pedestrian crossings, including those at Gresham Street and Staunton Street, to enhance accessibility and safety.
Rob Cook, Winvic’s managing director for civils and infrastructure, said: “We are proud to have delivered another successful highways project for Lincolnshire County Council, enhancing Carholme Road and the A46/A57 roundabout for the benefit of local residents, businesses and all road users.
“This achievement demonstrates our commitment to quality, safety and community engagement. I’d like to thank our dedicated team and partners for their hard work in overcoming engineering challenges and delivering real social value throughout the scheme.”
