Davidsons looks to seal the deal on rugby-adjacent Leics resi
Oadby & Wigston’s development control committee will consider the firm’s 87-home bid for reserved matters approval later this week.
Outline consent has already been established at the site, west of Welford Road on a site adjacent to South Leicestershire RFC, with a decision notice issued and Section 106 deal agreed following the January 2025 meeting.
Working with planner nineteen47, Davidsons Developments now seeks detailed consent, with a decision due on Thursday evening this week. Golby + Luck is the landscape architect for the project, which is recommended for approval.
The site is south-east of Wigston on Welford Road, the primary throughfare into Wigston from the south, and is around 1.5km from the town centre. It comprises around eight acres of agricultural fields bounded primarily by high hedges, with a green metal fence on the north boundary along the access to the rugby club.
The initial consent provides for provision for ball strike netting to the west boundary with the rugby club.
Seventeen of the homes will be affordable: four one-beds, nine two-beds, and four three-beds. The 70 market sale homes break down as 13 two-beds, 27 three-beds and four-beds, and three five-beds.
Davidsons is also advancing a 450-home project in West Northamptonshire, which was approved in January after being delayed in the planning works.
Scheme documents can be viewed on Oadby & Wigston’s planning portal, reference 25/00410/REM.
