Large Perton housing site included in 456-acre land deals

More than 200 acres of South Staffordshire land could be brought forward for a future housing scheme, with a huge plot in Perton included as part of a Northern Trust deal to promote sites across the country.

The Lancashire firm has announced the successful signing of ten new strategic land promotion agreements, tied up over the last 12 months, with deals for four Midlands sites included in a list of those either concluded or due to be signed imminently.

An unidentified 209-acre Perton site is included in the list of Midlands schemes which could be brought forward for development, alongside a 23-acre site in Blaby, 70 acres in Burntwood and a further 22 acres in Telford, where NT has already been involved in the ongoing Allscott Heath development.

The agreements, which collectively cover approximately 456 acres of land, represent the potential delivery of 3,000 new homes nationwide.

The firm’s strategic land team has secured planning for around 4,500 new homes over the last 2 years, and has current projects covering more than 60 sites with potential to bring forward more than 10,000 new homes.

Around 1,500 acres of land are currently being promoted through the planning process for mixed use development.

Northern Trust’s strategic land director, John Tootell, said the deals represented the confidence landowners placed in the firm’s ability to navigate the planning system – while welcoming government changes to the National Planning Policy Framework as an “opportune time” for the business.

“Collectively, these further strengthen our significant strategic land portfolio and provide the opportunity to deliver much-needed new homes in sustainable locations,” he said.
