WATCH | Kier says Arena Central will be Birmingham’s BTR ‘benchmark’
Updated visuals showing how two Birmingham residential towers could look once completed have been released by developers behind the proposals.
Kier Property lodged its plans for the last remaining two plots at Arena Central, the site of a former HSBC headquarters building near Birmingham’s central library, in April.
Under the proposals, two build-to-rent residential towers would be built on the corner of Holliday Street and Bridge Street, spanning 30 and 17 storeys respectively, providing 526 apartments.
Alexandra Conway, managing director for residential private sector for Kier Property said: “Arena Central represents one of Birmingham’s most significant and successful regeneration stories and this BtR scheme offers a rare opportunity to complete the masterplan with a forward-looking residential proposition.
“This scheme has been carefully designed as a best-in-class build to rent development, delivering homes within a professionally managed environment that prioritises resident experience, operational excellence and long-term sustainability.
“Its central location, adjacent to the canal network and at the heart of the city’s commercial and cultural core combined with a design-led approach and strong amenity offer, ensures the development will appeal to modern urban renters while providing the consistency and resilience sought by institutional investment.
“We believe this proposal not only complements Arena Central but also sets a benchmark for the next generation of city-centre living in Birmingham.”
TP Bennett are architects for the scheme, while CBRE provided planning consultancy services for the application.
